Course structure for IIT-Advanced Level (Integrated Program)
Duration: About 600 hours of classroom interaction comprising about 550 hrs. of basic training plus about 50 hrs. of final revision (all module test, CBSE practice test and doubt clearing sessions are extra)
Course structure and flow : The entire program is divided into two modules (a module is like a school semester containing a selection of topics in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics), in which first module is conducted in the first year when the student is in Class XI and the second module in the second year when the students is in Class XII
Course structure in the two years :
  • The first module shall cover the topics of PCM which are purely a part of Class XI CBSE syllabus and topics where in the CBSE and IIT-JEE level requirements are same. Teaching will commence from basic level which will be raised to CBSE level and further to IIT-JEE level. To ensure that students have been able to assimilate the topics taught in the first module, three Progressive CBSE pattern tests and one CBSE pattern test covering of all topics of Module –I would be conducted. The answer sheets will be evaluated and feedback will be given along with suggestion for improvement
  • The second module will deal with those topics of Class XII in which the IIT-JEE level is higher than the CBSE level and complex problems have to be tackled. Only after the CBSE level of these topics has been achieved the more complex IIT-JEE level concepts and applications will be dealt with. Each topic will be covered simultaneously for CBSE level as well as IIT-JEE level. To ensure that students have been able to assimilate the topics taught in the second module, three Progressive CBSE pattern tests and one CBSE pattern test covering of all topics of Module – II would be conducted. In addition there will be a sit down test on CBSE pattern covering all topics of Class XI and a Module test on IIT–JEE pattern covering all topics of Module – II
Study material:
  • An exhaustive and complete study material will be given. No extra book, study material or journal is required by the student
  • Home Assignments which includes more than 2000 objective questions
  • Merit’s Problem Package (with Ready Reference compendium of Formulae, Equations and Data), of 1500 questions (500 each for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) including Write-up based questions with solutions.
Testing and feedback :
  • 2 to 3 short objective quizzes to review topics taught in each module
  • Module test after completion of each module based on the current pattern of IIT-JEE
  • CBSE pattern practice tests in both Classes XI and XII. The students will be provided with evaluated answer sheets and suggestions for improvement
  • Micro-level analysis would follow each IIT-JEE pattern test where a student’s performance is compared with the average performer in the test as well as the topper of the test. The students would be given information regarding the topics where their performance needs to be improved

JEE Main and JEE Advanced

The Scenario for admissions to Engineering and Medical colleges has undergone a major change over the past few years. Admissions to both Engineering and Medical Colleges are now based on Entrance exam marks and std.XII marks.
Entrance Exam like JEE-MAIN (Admission to NITs and IIITs) have 40% weightage to board performance and 60% weightage to entrance exam marks whereas IIT-ADVANCED would be considering the top 1.5 lakh students of JEE-MAIN can participate for Advanced level with the eligibility criteria of top 20 percentile in their board performance. It is obviously the student has to concentrate both boards as well as entrance from their 11th std onwards. Both these exams comprising of class 11th and 12th std syllabus.
Merit’s Two year classroom program is one of the most effective courses for IIT-JEE preparation. This program prepares students for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) of IIT-JEE syllabus. In this program the students are first taught CBSE level PCM and finally elevated to the IIT-JEE level. Extra care is taken to ensure that the sudden transition from class X to XI goes smoothly along with IIT-JEE preparation. Besides the academic inputs, the course has been designed with lot of stress to motivate the students from time to time.
